Molly is credited as a driving force behind the modern calligraphy movement and achieved renown for her book, Modern Calligraphy: Everything You Need to Know to Get Started in Script Calligraphy (St. Martin’s Griffin, 2013).
Since its release, Modern Calligraphy has sold over 65,000 copies, been translated into Chinese and Spanish, and was named one of Amazon's "Favorite Craft Books" of 2013. Her second book, The Calligrapher's Business Handbook (2017), guides lettering artists in crafting a thriving freelance career, and has been an Amazon Bestseller in the Calligraphy and Business of Art categories.
In addition to teaching in-person calligraphy workshops, Molly is also holds the title of Top Teacher on the Skillshare platform, with over 11,000 students and nearly half a million minutes of watch time since her first class launched in 2013. (I can offer you two months of Skillshare Premium membership free with my Top Teacher link.)
Molly graduated from UCLA's Design Communication Arts program in 2009 with a concentration in typography and layout design. Prior to that, Molly studied art history, comparative literature, and creative writing at The American University of Paris. It was her experience as editor-in-chief and layout designer of the school’s bilingual arts and literary magazine, Paris/Atlantic, that sparked Molly’s interest in graphic design.
In 2016 Molly founded Calligrafile.com, a curated database of resource links and products for calligraphers, hand lettering artists, type enthusiasts, and creative freelancers.
Molly's work has been featured in The Guardian, The Wall Street Journal, Martha Stewart Weddings, Los Angeles Times, Country Living, Buzzfeed, and Style Me Pretty. Her client list includes Google Cultural Institute, Martha Stewart Weddings, Michael Kors, Fendi, J. Jill, and Victorio & Lucchino.
After spending nearly a decade in Los Angeles, Molly currently lives in Athens, Greece. She works with clients all over the world, from New York to Paris, Cape Town to Taipei. A true Francophile, Molly is fluent in French and looks forward to the day she might once again live in Paris.
