Calligrafile

Calligraphy, Logo Design, Web Design

Calligrafile.com is my own side project. For years I had recognized the immense need for a free, extensive resource website targeted at lettering artists. So, in 2016, I set aside the time to make it a reality.

This project involved the hand-lettered logo design and complete brand identity for Calligrafile.com. I designed and executed the entirety of this project, from the logo to the color palette, website design, and photography.

I brought on board an international team of amazing contributors , all of whom work as professional lettering artists and represent a range of styles. Each of us writes blog posts and shares our favorite lettering resources, from supplies to books to online learning sites to freelance tools.

Logo Design & Branding

Logo Design & Branding

I made Calligrafile's branding a mix of bold and minimalist. The logo itself is hand lettering done with a folded pen – as ink on paper and then digitized. The rest of Calligrafile's branding, however, especially the website, is intentionally minimalist so as not to detract from the hundreds of photographs on the site of other artists' work and contributors' recommended tools.
